Governance & Accountability

Who runs the Foundation, and how

A charity is only as trustworthy as the people behind it and the rules they hold themselves to. This page names our trustees, explains how decisions and beneficiary selection are made, and sets out — in full — our relationship with the private company that shares our name.

Our Trustees

The people accountable for this work

MEWAYZ Community Impact Foundation is registered as Incorporated Trustees with Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission. Our trustees are named on that public record, and they are named here.

Raymond Anwan Edet-Okon

Chairman & Founder

Raymond founded the Foundation after witnessing firsthand the gap between community need and formal support in Uyo. His background is in community development and administration, and he leads on governance, donor relations, and strategic partnerships.

Imaobong Bruno

Trustee & Programme Lead

Imaobong leads our field model: the beneficiary-vetting process, the trader-onboarding pipeline, and our impact-documentation standards — the groundwork that guides our first outreach in the Idoro Road district and makes sure help reaches the households that need it most.

Photographs of our trustees will be added here; we would rather show a plain monogram than a stock image of someone who is not them. As the board grows — including, we intend, at least one trustee independent of the founder — new members will be named on this page.

How decisions are made

  • The trustees hold ultimate responsibility for the Foundation's funds, programmes, and compliance, as required of Incorporated Trustees under Nigerian law.
  • Spending and programme decisions are agreed by the trustees, and every disbursement of relief is recorded.
  • The Foundation holds its own funds in its own account, separate from any other organisation.

How beneficiaries are chosen

  • Anyone can apply — through this website or in person at a market.
  • A named team member visits in person to confirm the household meets our published criteria.
  • The trustees or a programme officer approve each enrolment against those criteria — no one is enrolled without a check.
Full Disclosure

Our relationship with Mewayz

We share a name with a private company, and we would rather explain that plainly than let anyone wonder about it.

MEWAYZ Community Impact Foundation is an independently incorporated Nigerian non-profit (Incorporated Trustees, CAC/IT/NO 9212772), founded by the founder of Mewayz, a private software company. The Foundation is separately registered and separately governed, holds its own funds, and conducts no commercial activity. Mewayz provides engineering and hosting for the Foundation's website and Trader Storefront programme as an in-kind donation, which the Foundation's trustees are responsible for overseeing and which is disclosed here. The Foundation does not sell, promote, or refer beneficiaries to any Mewayz product.

What that means in practice

  • The two organisations are legally separate. Google's own rules confirm that a company-founded foundation is eligible for its nonprofit programmes provided it is legally separate — which we are.
  • No shared bank account, no shared user database, and no marketing contact flows between the Foundation and the company.
  • The in-kind support (hosting and engineering) is a genuine donation. The Foundation will value and disclose it in its financial reporting.
  • No beneficiary is ever asked, pushed, or upgraded toward a paid product — not the company's, not anyone's.
